Principal's Message

Welcome To Dream Lake Elementary School!

Hi there Dragon Family! Thank you for visiting our website. Here you will find useful information regarding our school. Please be sure to also connect with us via Talking Points, as well as our Facebook page and Twitter.

I am overjoyed to start my eight year as Principal of Dream Elementary. We have continued to thrive in our School Improvement efforts, and in spite of some of the learning loss we experienced during the pandemic; we were able to maintain a letter grade of a 'B'! Throughout my tenure at Dream Lake Elementary we faced several gaps in student learning.  We have incrementally narrowed achievement gaps. This year I am VERY PROUD to say that Dream Lake no longer has any identified achievement gaps in any of our subgroups.  That is to say that all of the students we serve are learning and achieving at high levels. This achievement also includes our students with disabilities (SWD).

We have a dynamic year ahead of us and we will continue to create an engaging learning environment. Our teachers "set the stage" to engage" by developing engaging lessons that cultivates an exciting learning environment which has promoted an overall increase in student achievement.

Our Innovation Plan highlights the content areas of Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (S.T.R.E.A.M.) throughout classroom lessons and after-school clubs. S.T.R.E.A.M is also the theme we use for our school-wide behavior management system, which is based on a house system.

Our S.T.R.E.A.M house system is instrumental in building the positive culture we have at our school. The structure of a house system is based on the concept of Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS). We have infused resiliency standards within the team-building component of our house system as appropriate in academic lessons. This enhanced approach to how we interact with each other and our school community further deepens commitment to being Six Houses-One Family!

You, our parents are integral to our Dragon Family. We ask for your continued support in creating a Dynamic Learning Experience (DLE) for your child. Checking homework, maintaining communication with your child's teacher, monitoring your child’s grades and setting aside a time for reading with your child each day, will help him/her reach his/her full, academic potential. Please also consider joining our PTO and SAC, which are avenues that give you voice and access in the overall function of our school.

Our Dynamic staff is ready to welcome you.

We are SUPER EXCITED to start a new year and we are looking forward to working with you as we create a future of endless possibilities for our scholars.

Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Carol-Ann Clenton-Martin
